Who knew seven days could go by so quickly?
If you, like me, ventured on out to the Crown Room last Saturday for Massive 11, you could have witnessed a
deliciously impromptu production completely devoid of planning or developed foresight. But it worked. Such is the beauty of Massive. Liquor was flowing, people were dancing, artists were performing and the night ended in reasonable success. Who cares that only 2 designers premiered? So what if some of the models (me!) weren’t wearing pants? Give the people what they want—it’s all in good fun. We all had a great time and 250 people got to see my backside in all its glory. Massive… Enough said. So what else is there to do in this town other than be assaulted by nudity? Luckily, we live in Portland, where strip clubs surround us and indecent exposure is encouraged. Sunday’s Sinferno at Dante’s is always a stimulating experience. And if you can’t wait another 48 weeks until Burning Man 2010, it is a great decompression event. Who doesn’t love fire dancers? Speaking of fire dancing, you should experience Plan B.
Cheap drinks, great punk music, and weather permitting fire dancing Sundays are what this place is about. But if that’s still not enough flesh for you, I should warn you about the Miss Nude Oregon Finals 2009 coming up next week. Enter at your own risk.
On a slightly more tasteful note, FUSE, Portland’s first international runway show, debuted last Friday. Click HERE to see a clip of the production. The show, developed in part by local designer Mai Tee of Portland Synergy Fashion, was a black tie fundraiser held at the Portland Art Museum. Featuring local designers as well as visiting Chinese fashion representatives, FUSE wet the appetite of Portland fashion enthusiasts and acted as the ideal appetizer for Portland Fashion week, which kicks off in mere moments. I’ll have more for you on PFW when we meet again.
Now go out there and have fun!
…Luscious Lisa
