( MIO ) is a 501 (c) 3 approved non-profit organization whose mission is to provide computers to low-income families in the Portland Community. Not all Portland urban families are fortunate to have access to needed technology in today’s world. Computers donated through the Minority Information Outreach program will help connect these students and their families. They’ll be exposed to a larger, more diverse array of groups, networks, mentors, educational opportunities and information- thus assisting them in realizing their life goals. Friends of Trees’ mission is to bring people in the Portland-Vancouver metro area together to plant and care for city trees and green spaces. Through our Neighborhood Trees program, homeowners buy discounted trees to plant with their neighbors at weekend plantings. Through our Green Space Initiative, trained crew leaders guide volunteers at weekend events to restore natural areas and green spaces between freeways and neighborhoods. Since 1989, we have planted more than 385,000 trees and native plants. Visit us at: http://www.friendsoftrees.org/
